Atoms and the Periodic Table, Science for Middle School is a digital printable science lesson written at about an 8th grade level. The lesson contains a total of 15 pages. 1 page is the title page and cover, 10 pages are reading and lesson material, 3 pages are questions, and 1 page is an answer key.

The lesson provides a basic introduction to atoms. It teaches atoms are and what their subatomic particles are. The lesson then continues with a broader definition of atoms covering isotopes and ions. This teaches about how atoms differ when they have different a different number of protons vs a different number of neutrons vs a different number of electrons.

The lesson teaches little things like the definition of radiation, and how the periodic table arranges the elements and how to use that arrangement for different purposes.

I wrote this lesson for two reasons: 1. It is a good foundation to begin learning about atoms and chemistry. 2. I have had children go through long chemistry course and come out not remembering any of it after two years. This is to help them have some basic and useful knowledge without having to delve deeply into a topic that they do not care about.
